A strategy in reading Chinese aloud | 朗读中文的一种策略

简介 | Introduction

该策略以英文为媒介, 用中文来标记中文的发音. 供中文中等程度的英文母语者使用. 
The strategy leverage English as a media to notate Chinese pronunciation with Chinese. For intermediate Chinese users who speaks English. 

方法 | Approach

以新加坡教育部中一快捷华文第四课《漫画男孩》中的一段为例.
Take for example the Singapore MOE Express Chinese text Comic Boy

课余 时间 ,
他 总是 沉浸 在 他 的 漫画 世界 里 。
上 中学 后 ,
他 开始 研究 画 漫画 的 技巧 ,

其中有多个中文生词. 我们把它们作一个到英文的对应:
For the handful of Chinese vocabularies, we map each to English in such a way: 

  • 课余(out of class) -> guest fish/客鱼 (A guest fish visits when class is over)
  • 沉浸(immerse) -> please enter/请进
  • 世界(world) -> yes borrow/是借 (yes i want to borrow the whold world from you)
  • 研究(research) -> eye nine/眼九 (we need nine eyes for researching)
  • 技巧(skills) -> remember knock/记敲 (remember the skills to knock it out)

之后记下这段英文:
We concatenate the piece of English to mind:

  • guest fish please enter yes borrow eye nine remember knock

在朗读时遇到生词即回忆这段英文, 重塑记忆词, 得到语音. 如
When reading aloud we keep recalling the piece of English, calling back to the hint word, retrieving the pronunciation. For example, 

  • 课余 -> class over -> a fish visits when class is over -> guest fish -> 客鱼
