* Coverage.  E.g., estimated 61% of the words appearing on the PSLE 2019 paper belong to Tier I (which contains 846 words). That is to say Tier I are estimated to be most frequent 2019 PSLE words. 

** Tier VII. A small portion (~4%) of the PSLE vocabulary coverage are un-predicatble within an operatable range. The kid will call for his/her storage and/or sense of Chinese when encountering the un-predicted words in the exam paper. 

How to use

  • Do a one-time Subscribe and Pay of S$50 for the resource (please and thank you!). 
  • Go to ◇ Start Learning.
  • Start reviewing vocabularies from Tier I.
  • Learn vocabularies with Flashcard (Rich Media) or Print version.  
  • Quiz yourself with the Superstar module. If you are very confident with certain lessons, skip the Superstar to save time. 
  • Try monitoring your Chinese vocabulary reviewing speed. Optimize your time distribution (among each subjects and aspects) accordingly.

FAQ

1. Does the mechanism forecast the PSLE Chinese vocabulary range?

A: We actually provide (and not limited to) the whole range of MOE Primary Chinese Vocabularies.

The magic we do is tiering up the vocabularies by their estimated frequency of appearing in the coming exam.

With such targeting strategy the kid can at the best minimize his/her vocabulary reviewing effort according to his/her expectation.

2. Do vocabularies mean all to the PSLE Chinese exam?

A: In one word, no.

i) Vocabularies do play an extremely vital role in PSLE Chinese exam. Vocabularies to a language are like bricks to a building.

ii) Besides vocabulary, kids should have sufficient practical grammar knowledge. For kids this is usually consolidated from abundant reading, including repeated reading. 

iii) Kids should have comprehension, organization, expression skills over vocabularies. These are actually, to certain extent, not related to specific languages.

iv) The PSLE syllabus [→SEAB pdf] also includes Oral and Listening tests. The required skills are similar to Reading Comprehensions and Compositions. However, it requires the vocabularies being perceived and presented the vocal and audible way.  

v) Kids do need to be familiarized with above aspects and the exam format. We would suggest the kid, when necessary, take part in special PSLE tuition programs. ** 第 VII 级次. 小学会考华文词汇覆盖度的一小部分 (~4%) 范围难以准确预估.  当学生在考试中遇到这些无法预估词汇时, 需要依靠日常积累和华文语感来应对.

常见问题

1. 这套机制是在对小六会考华文词汇范围作预测吗?

A: 我们所提供的小六会考华文词汇复习范围实际上就是整个(且不限于)小学词汇范围.

点晴之笔在于, 我们将词汇按照在本次考试中出现的预估频率作分级.

基于这样的针对性策略, 孩子就可以按照自己的期待目标, 将在词汇复习上的时间和精力的投入降到相对最低.

2. 整个考试唯独复习词汇吗?

A: 否.

i) 首先词汇的确在小六华文考试中极其重要. 词汇之于语言譬如砖瓦之于房屋.

ii) 除了词汇, 孩子需要有一定的语法能力. 对于孩子这通常通过大量阅读包括重复阅读来强化. 

iii) 孩子应在词汇的基础上形成理解, 组织, 表达的能力. 这些实际上在相当程度上与具体的语言种类无关.

iv) 小学会考华文考试题型[→SEAB pdf] 中还包含口语和听力测试. 这部分测试对于语言能力的需求类似阅读理解和作文, 但要求词汇在听和说层面的感知和表达.
