1 旧时差役所用的红黑色各半的木棍。因五行中黑色属水，红色属火，故称为「水火棍」。《水浒传．第八回》：「取了行李包裹，拏了水火棍，便来使臣房里取了林冲，监押上路。」《儒林外史．第一九回》：「交过五鼓，学道三炮升堂，超人手执水火棍，跟了一班军牢夜役。」
