1 古代厅堂前东面的台阶，为主人迎接宾客的地方。《集韵．入声．铎韵》：「阼，东阶。」唐．杜甫〈朝享太庙赋〉：「阶有宾阼，帐有甲乙。」
2 帝位、王位。如：「践阼」。《礼记．文王世子》：「成王幼，不能莅阼。」
3 祭肉。通「胙」。《仪礼．特牲馈食礼》：「祝命彻阼俎、豆笾，设于东序下。」
