1 旧时习俗在订婚前，交换男女双方的生辰八字，来卜算是否适合结婚。《儒林外史．第一○回》：「令表姪八字，鲁老先生在尊府席上已经问明在心里了。到家就是晚生查算，替他两人合婚。」
2 结为婚姻。《史记．卷七一．樗里子甘茂传》：「齐使甘茂于楚，楚怀王新与秦合婚而驩。」
